Michigan is in its first season under coach Rich Rodriguez. The previous six Michigan coaches beat Ohio State in their first season, a streak that dates back 79 years. Before the season began, Tressel made his team aware of that streak.
Linebacker James Laurinaitis, though, said he has little use for numbers. "There's always statistics about this and that," he said. "Everybody who's been around OSU-Michigan knows that both teams could go (winless) all year, and it's still going to be the game to watch. It doesn't matter what the records are."
This season, more than most, will put that cliche to the test.
