Blurt!!!

"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing his opinion."
Proverbs 18:2 ESV

A fool is someone who habitually makes poor choices with his thoughts, speech, and action. In this context, he is someone who voices his opinion with no regard for the wisdom he might gain from others about the subject. Read the comments at the bottom of any ESPN.com article and you will know exactly what Solomon was referencing.

Solomon watched the fool in action and realized that he had no desire to understand the subject of discussion. His only interest was to blurt out his own opinion. Solomon's point is clear. Understanding a subject is more important than voicing your opinion.

Pause for a moment before you join the discussion of fools. Before you jump into that heated discussion, make it your goal to understand the subject. Listen to the wisdom others have gained from careful study. Ignore the urge to blurt (or to listen to fools who do). Otherwise you may become proof of today's proverb.
